Sioux Indian Creation Legends

Sioux Indian Creation Legends
The myths of this North American Indian tribe tell how at some period their ancestors lived in a cave with a subterranean lake and that eventually after the period of disaster was over the ancestors of the tribe made their way to the surface and there set up their homes. One of the earliest culture heroes was Ikto, who is credited with the invention of human speech. Later myths tell of the adventures of Haokah and Ictinike. The Mandan and Minnetaree Indian Creation Legends are included in the Sioux.
